A film festival is an event in which lots of people reunite with a specific frequency (often once a year) to see many projected movies and productions at once. They are often thematic, and some of them are widely recognized in the world and in the industry.

Here are some of the most important film festivals in 2017:

Cannes Film Festival:

The 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival took place from 17 to 28 May 2017. Some of the winners were:

Berlin Film Festival

The 2017 edition of the Berlin Film Festival was the 67th in history, and it was held on Germany’s capital city from February 9th until February 18th. The Golden Bear was awarded to the Hungarian film ‘On Body and Soul’, directed by Ildikó Enyedi, which also served as closing film.

Edinburgh International Film Festival

The Edinburgh International Film Festival, or EIFF, was held from June 21st to July 2nd. Some of the winners were:

SXSW Film Festival: From March 10 to March 19, people in Austin, Texas, enjoyed the South by Southwest Festival.

Tribeca Film Festival, 16th Annual edition of the holiday, ran from April 19-30, completing another successful meeting in New York.

Hong Kong International Film Festival ran from April 11 to 25 at various venues.

Melbourne International Film Festival: From August 3rd to August 20th Australian people will be able to enjoy the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Telluride Film Festival will run from August 30 to September 4 in Telluride, Colorado, United States.

Venice Film Festival, or La Bienale di Venezia, will run from August 30th to September 9th in Venice Lido.

American Film Festival: From September 1 to September 10, Deauville (France) will host the 31st edition of the American Film Festival.

Toronto International Film Festival: The TIFF, or Toronto International Film Festival, will be hosted in Toronto, Canada, from September 7th through September 17th.

Raindance Film Festival will run from September 20th to October 1st.

BFI London Film Festival: From October 4th to October 15th, British will be able to enjoy the 2017 edition of the BFI London Film Festival.

Dubai International Film Festival: This famous festival will take place in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from December 6-13.
